Focus Topic: Can Science Save Us?

We’re not even a month into 2018, and already it seems like this will be another year full of challenges. Many of the threats we face, from global warming to infectious disease, are far more global than local. At the same time, we live in an era of tremendous innovation. 2018 promises to showcase human problem-solving capacity at its best. This is an open invitation for people to write about what they’re passionate about, what worries them and what excites them. We would love to have you submit a feature article proposal! We also accept general articles, news briefs, and commentaries unrelated to our issue theme.

Sample feature article topics: climate change and natural disasters, flu pandemics, renewable energy, nuclear proliferation, or any topic that interests you!

Proposal deadline: Sunday, February 4, 2018 at 11:59pm via our proposal submission form.

More detailed information about the writing process and our calendar for the semester is available in the Spring 2018 Writer’s Guide. For samples of each type of article, check out our Spring 2017 Issue“Changing Reality” and our Fall 2017 Issue “The Evolution of Science”! Feel free to email us at with any questions you may have!

Decisions on article proposals will be emailed to individual writers by Monday, Feb. 5th. We look forward to working with you!
